Ana Salopek
Ana Salopek lives and creates in Ogulin. She says the Universe is her home. As a proud mum of a five-year-old, she occasionally borrows her daughter's view of the world, and that is when what truly matters becomes clear. She creates and exhibits in a random circular usage of her name, Ana Salopek, as well as her pseudonym, gospođica ura, with a great infatuation for books, music and everything that is created. She dances as Jack White plays on Pink Floyd’s musical staff. In her illustrations she covers a wide range of topics; from ecology, human values, tolerance, emotional expressions of everything that surrounds us, to literal understanding and transmission of a word play into a picture by moving the boundaries of reality and allowing her inner child to express itself. She uses books and picture books as her private time machine. She creates using digital techniques because they allow her more freedom and they do not bound her to a single place. She wonders: Does the bird feel captivated in her freedom? Do expectations differ? What color is nihilism?
She believes that during the night her legs lengthen as a giraffe’s neck and then she can reach the stars. She practices mind openness on a daily basis.
