Carmen Bačura Potočić
Carmen Bačura Potočić was born on 15th April, 1972 in Zagreb, Croatia. After graduating from the School of Applied Arts and Design, she began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where she graduated in 1998. She is a member of The Croatian Association of Fine Artists. She has been teaching specialized vocational subjects related to fine arts at the School for Art, Design, Graphics and Clothes Zabok. During her 22-year teaching career she has mentored students with numerous national awards and recognitions. She is the coordinator of the Workshop for Graphic Arts at K. Š. Gjalski Days, a well-known cultural event in Zabok. She has authored the Coursebook for graphic arts used in vocational high schools specializing in visual arts and design (Školska knjiga, 2014).
Her work includes painting, graphics, drawing and collage technique. She often experiments and combines graphic properties of multiplication and printmaking with other visual techniques and three-dimensional shaping. She also uses the sewing machine to make textile collages that she integrates into her artwork. In her recent work, she has made a step further by going beyond the final print as the outcome of her work, and integrated the matrix into the ultimate graphic art product.
